Inter Miami star Lionel Messi expressed his solidarity with Saudi Arabian Al-Hilal striker Neymar, his former teammate at Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, who recently suffered a severe knee injury.
Messi shared a photo of himself with Neymar during their time together at Barcelona on his Instagram Stories. Alongside the picture, he wrote, “Stay strong.”
Neymar, who recently transferred to Al-Hilal from Paris Saint-Germain, sustained the injury in the last minute of the first half during Brazil’s match against Uruguay. The incident occurred when he collided with Uruguayan midfielder Nicolas de la Croce.
Al-Hilal Club confirmed the extent of Neymar’s injury, stating, “Medical tests have revealed a torn cruciate ligament and cartilage. He will undergo surgery in the near future.”
The Saudi team has not disclosed the expected duration of Neymar’s absence from the field, but reports suggest that it will be a lengthy recovery period.
