The Italian Football Federation has announced that Luciano Spalletti will be taking over as the coach of Italy’s national team. He has signed a three-year contract and is set to succeed Roberto Mancini.

Roberto Mancini recently resigned as the manager of Italy, causing trouble for the Italian Football Association. This happened just 10 months before the UEFA Euro 2024.
Agreement with Luciano Spalletti
The Italian federation has issued an official statement confirming their agreement with Luciano Spalletti. He will officially take over the position on September 1st.
The coach’s presentation will be held at the Federal Technical Center in the first days of the upcoming month.
Gabriele Gravina, the president of the Italian Football Federation, expressed his satisfaction with this decision, stating, “The national team needed a great coach, and I am very happy with this step.”
The statement further emphasized that Spalletti’s enthusiasm and experience will be crucial in facing the upcoming challenges for the Italian national team.
The Italian team aims to make a comeback in the World Cup, starting with the 2026 edition in the US, Mexico, and Canada. They have been absent from the 2018 and Qatar 2022 World Cups.
Luciano Spalletti’s Achievement
Luciano Spalletti, aged 64, led Napoli to the Serie A title last season (2022-2023). This was the first time in this century and the third time since the era of the legendary Diego Armando Maradona.
