Moscow, January 16 – The British Metropolitan Police said that a person was arrested in the United Kingdom in connection with the discovery of uranium at Britain’s Heathrow Airport in December 2022.
According to the statement, the man, in his sixties, “was arrested and released on bail as part of an ongoing investigation.”
Richard Smith, who heads the Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command, said: “I want to make it clear that despite this arrest, based on what we know at the moment, this incident still does not involve any immediate threat to society.”

Law enforcement officials said earlier that the amount of uranium is “extremely small” and, according to experts, does not pose a threat to people. According to the British newspaper The Sun, the package was originally sent from Pakistan and arrived at the airport on a flight from Oman.
