Manchester United and Chelsea reach agreement for Mount transfer
Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign England midfielder Mason Mount from Chelsea for £55m, according to several reports on Thursday.
United will reportedly pay another £5m in bonuses based on Mount’s performance and success at Old Trafford.
Mount, 24, whose contract with the London club expires next year, is expected to sign a five-year deal with United, with an option for a further year.
Mount graduated from the Chelsea Academy where he spent one season on loan with Dutch side Vitesse (2017-2018) and another with Derby County (2018-2019).
Mount made his first appearance for the Chelsea first team in August 2019, and he will leave the team, playing 129 Premier League games with him, during which he scored 27 goals with 22 assists.
With the Blues, Mount won the 2021 Champions League and Club World Cup.
At international level, Mount has made 36 caps for England since the 2021 European Cup Final, which England lost to Italy on penalties.
