Moscow, January 11 – Swiss prosecutors have questioned FIFA President Gianni Infantino for a second time in an abuse of power case, reports Le Monde.
The interrogation was conducted by Swiss prosecutors Ulrich Weder and Hans Maurer, who confirmed the truth of the interrogation to the publication without specifying the details. The first Infantino was questioned in April 2022.
It is noteworthy that Feder and Maurer plan to interrogate a number of former representatives of the FIFA leadership, as well as former and current representatives of the Swiss Public Prosecutor’s Office, as part of the procedures.
The case against Infantino was opened in July 2020, on suspicion of abuse of power, violation of official secrets and obstruction of criminal process. Swiss prosecutors are investigating three meetings between FIFA President and former Swiss Attorney General Michael Lauber in 2016 and 2017. Lauber was responsible for investigating corruption at FIFA from 2015 to 2019.
