Moscow, February 17 – Russian basketball player “Olympiacos” Greek Joel Polomboy has won a lawsuit against CSKA Moscow in the Basketball Arbitration Court (BAT), Basket News reported.
Earlier, Bolomboy posted a photo of a letter from CSKA Vice President for Sports Work Natalya Furaeva, which says that the club asks the athlete to return to Russia before May 1, 2022. It notes that in case of refusal, the penalties stipulated in the contract will be applied. The basketball player brazenly stated that he would not return to Russia. CSKA president Andrei Vatutin threatened the basketball player with a lawsuit. In July, Bolomboy signed a contract with Olympiacos, despite the existing agreement with CSKA.
BAT ruled that Bolomboy had the right to leave CSKA due to the special operation, and ordered the club to pay all the basketball player’s legal costs.
Bolomboy is a native of Donetsk. He has represented CSKA since 2018. As part of the army team, he became a two-time winner of the Euroleague – VTB United League. Prior to CSKA, Bolomboy was a member of the American clubs Utah Jazz and Milwaukee Bucks.
