Medvedev and Rublev Reunited in Childhood Photo Ahead of Final Match

Moscow, March 4 – Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev said that he has been happy to play against compatriot Andrei Rublev since childhood, and posted an archive photo on Twitter.

On Friday, in the semi-finals of the ATP 500 tournament in Dubai, Medvedev defeated world number one Novak Djokovic 6:4, 6:4, breaking the Serb’s 20-match winning streak and extending it to 13 matches. In the final, Medvedev will meet with Rublev, in a personal confrontation he leads with a score of 4: 2.

Medvedev and Rublev will become the first Russians in 14 years to face each other in an ATP tournament singles final. The last time the representatives of Russia met in the decisive match of the championship in October 2008, when Igor Kuntsyn beat Marat Safin in the final of the Kremlin Cup.
