Medvedev lost dramatically to an American in the Australian Open

Moscow, January 20 – Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev lost to American Sebastian Korda in the third round match of the Australian Open (Australian Open).

The meeting ended with a score of 7: 6 (9: 7), 6: 3, 7: 6 (7: 4) in favor of the American seed in the tournament under number 29. Medvedev had the seventh seed. Tennis players spent 2 hours 59 minutes on the court.

For the first time since 2018, the Russian failed to reach the fourth round of the Australian Open. Last season, Medvedev reached the final of the tournament, where he lost to Spaniard Rafael Nadal.

In the next round, Korda will play against Paul-Hubert Hurkacz (10th seed).

Korda, 22, is the son of former world number 2 Peter Korda and 1998 Australian Open winner.

The Australian Open, the first major tournament of the season, will end on January 29. Last year’s winner Nadal ended the fight in the second round.
