Infodefensa reported that the Spanish company Navantia is working on a project to modernize warships it has developed for the Norwegian army.

According to the site, the Spanish company Navantia recently sent a team of 40 technicians and mechanics to Norway to stay there for 5 weeks and work on the inspection and survey of the F-310 ships that the company had previously developed for the Norwegian army, in order to modernize these ships at the request of Norway.

Navantia produced five F-310 frigates for the Norwegian Navy between 2006 and 2011, but Norway currently owns 4 of them after one sank in November 2018 after colliding with the tanker Sola TS off the west coast of Norway.

In the spring of 2019, the process of raising the sunken frigate and towing it to the Norwegian Naval Base Haakonsvern was completed, and the examination showed that its repair would cost up to $ 1.6 billion and take about five years, so Norway decided that buying a new frigate would be more appropriate and feasible.
