New Payment System for Tourists Agreed Upon by Moscow and Ankara
Turkish newspaper Sabah reported Friday, citing sources, that Ankara and Moscow have reached an agreement to use a new payment system for Russian tourists.
The head of the Central Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiullina, said earlier that the bank is developing with foreign countries, including Turkey, an alternative payment system for Mir cards to pay for Russian purchases.
According to the newspaper: “An agreement has been reached on a new payment system for Russian tourists. Russian tourists will be able to cash out money on their accounts using a bank card.” without giving details.
It is reported that earlier Turkish banks refused to accept transactions with Mir payment cards.
