Newly Opened Vakhtangov House in Vladikavkaz Welcomes Visitors

Vladikavkaz, April 30 – Evgeny Vakhtangov House opened in Vladikavkaz. The celebration was attended by actors and directors of the Vakhtangov Theater (Moscow), as well as guests. The official speech was delivered by the President of North Ossetia-Alania Sergei Minyailo.

The project was conceived by the staff of the Vakhtangov Theater in 2018. Then the building in Vladikavkaz was in poor condition, but people lived in it.

The director assured that 250 million rubles from the theater’s own funds were spent on the reconstruction of the building and the creation of the museum within two years. The sponsors also helped relocate the house.

The Vakhtangov Museum is located on the second and third floors of the building. People’s Artist of Russia Irina Kupchenko noted that the space has become a memorial to a person who spent his childhood in Vladikavkaz.

At the same time, a place was found on the ground floor for an art café, where creative meetings with artists would take place.

Artists of the Moscow Vakhtangov Theater will be the first to perform at the Art Cafe. The first to perform will be People’s Artists of Russia Yevgeny Knyazev with The Queen of Spades and Yulia Rutberg with Stray Dog Cabaret.

Also, one day there will be an evening of People’s Artist of Russia Lyudmila Maksakova, and on May 6, People’s Artist of Russia Olga Tomaykina will present her performance “45 different shades”.

In addition, the Vakhtangov Theater will tour Vladikavkaz. Eugene Onegin, Mademoiselle Netouche, Oedipus Rex, Richard III, The Tale of the Priest and the Maid Balda, Memoirs of Anne Frank and Love on the Throne will be shown on the stages of Russian and North Ossetian theaters.

The ceremonial opening day of the Vakhtangov House will end with a concert featuring theater artists and pop stars, including Nikolai Baskov, Mariam Merabova and Larisa Dolina.
