An official source at the Zamalek Club reported the failure of talks between the White Castle board of directors and the German Heiko Herrlich after a meeting held on Wednesday evening.
A source told the Koora website in an exclusive statement: “The Zamalek Council has not reached an agreement with Herrlich and the German will leave Cairo in the coming hours.”
Zamalek has terminated the contract of Portugal’s Jesualdo Ferreira after the former coach waived the amount of a penalty clause in addition to his waiver of the $200,000 reward for winning the league last season.
The Zamalek council decided to keep the temporary technical staff headed by Ahmed Abdel Maqsood as well as the entire administrative staff due to the defeat by Al-Masri and the recent leak of some player contracts.
And Zamalek’s council confirmed in a statement on the club’s channel that the decision to “kick out the current temporary technical staff” was due to a conspiracy and the deliberate defeat of Al-Masri, as well as “burning the boats” before leaving.
He added: “Negotiations failed because Heiko Herlich insisted on getting a penalty clause for ending his contract, and this was rejected by the board of directors.”
Zamalek is going through difficult life circumstances as it says goodbye to the Egyptian Cup, the Confederation Cup and the African Champions League, and is fifth in the Premier League.
