One day’s trading washes away $61 million of Rishi Sunak’s wife’s fortune
Akshata Murthy, wife of British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, lost around £49m ($61m) after shares in her father’s company Infosys plunged.
Murthy owns a 0.94% stake in the Indian software giant co-founded by her father Narayana Murthy.
The company’s shares fell on Monday after management issued a negative outlook for India’s tech sector, leading to a wave of cuts from brokers.
And while the loss is only a fraction of the Sunak family fortune, Morty’s share is still worth over £450 million.
