Ovechkin addressed the family in Russian after outdoing Gordie Howe

Moscow, December 24 – Forward of the Russian “Washington Capitals” Alexander Ovechkin thanked the relatives and fans of the club for their support after he came to second place in the list of the best scorers in the history of the National Hockey League (NHL).
In the regular season match against the Winnipeg Jets (4: 1), Ovechkin scored a double. With his 801 and 802 career goals, the Russian ranks second on the NHL’s all-time leading scorers list, ahead of Gordie Howe (801).

Ovechkin is a graduate of Dynamo Moscow, with whom he won the Gagarin Cup in 2013. The striker became a three-time world champion as part of the Russian national team. In 2018, he won the Stanley Cup with Washington. His current contract with the Capitals runs through the end of the 2025-26 season.
