Moscow, March 18 – The Washington Capitals hosted the St. Louis Blues at their home stadium as part of a National Hockey League (NHL) regular season game.
In the third period, Russian striker and Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin successfully hit a one-time block from the left circle. The puck hit St. Louis goaltender Joel Hoover in the head, causing him to lose his helmet. The referees had to stop the match and the goalkeeper was not injured.
