Parliamentary Deputy in Ukraine Accused of Committing Fraud

Moscow, June 30 – Suspicion of fraud was announced to the chairman of the subcommittee in the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement, reports the country’s Prosecutor General’s Office.

At the same time, the deputy’s name was not reported in the department’s information. According to the publication “RBC-Ukraine”, we are talking about deputy Sergey Alekseev.

“During the procedural leadership of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the People’s Deputy of Ukraine and the Chairman of the Subcommittee in the Verkhovna Rada of the Committee on Law Enforcement Affairs were informed of the suspicion of fraud (Part 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), ”the Prosecutor General’s Office said in the Telegram channel.

According to the investigation, the deputy fraudulently seized money from a German citizen in the amount of $50,000 to help avoid his extradition. Investigations are underway at the accused’s home. The penalty for the article provides for a punishment of up to 12 years in prison with property confiscation.
