The Marshall Islands-flagged ship Pecks Force caught fire on June 16, 25 miles from Nakhodka, two crew members were injured, and they were evacuated ashore. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the fire started on a dry cargo ship when it was heading from China to the port of Vostochny. The crew refused to evacuate with the ship afloat. The Russian Sailors’ Union reported the News Agency that the fire occurred in the engine room. According to the Far Eastern Transportation Prosecutor’s Office, the crew members are citizens of the Philippines and Turkey. A law enforcement source in the area told the News Agency that the two victims were Filipinos. The fire was put out on the evening of 16 June.
