Buenos Aires, January 3 – Three-time football world champion Pele is buried in the cemetery, which he himself chose 19 years ago, according to a the News Agency correspondent.
The procession with the body of the “king of football” passed through the streets of Santos for several hours after saying goodbye at the stadium, which lasted 24 hours.
More than 230 thousand people came to see him off.

Pele himself bought a place in this cemetery 19 years ago. He explained his choice by the fact that this place seemed to him not like a cemetery, it conveys a sense of peace of mind and tranquility. This cemetery was built by the Argentine José Altsutt, who was a friend of Pele. Relatives and friends of the footballer are buried in this place.
Pele died on December 29 at the age of 82 after a long illness.
