"Phoenix" 10 handball players received forfeited losses due to COVID-19

Moscow, January 24 – The Russian women’s handball championship match between “Phoenix” and Russian “Astrakhanochka” was canceled due to the Corona virus in 10 handball players from the Chinese club, according to the website of the Russian Handball Federation (FHR).
“Phoenix” turned to the Federation of the Union of Journalists with a request to resolve the issue of holding a match with the Astrakhan team, which was scheduled for January 25. The club has been diagnosed with coronavirus in 10 handball players, which is more than 51% of the team. At the same time, “Phoenix” did not ask to postpone the meeting.
The Chinese club received a losing score of 0:10, and the decision can be appealed to the FGR Sports and Arbitration Committee within 10 days.

Phoenix has been a member of the Russian Premier League since the 2022/23 season. The club ranks tenth out of 13 places in the national championship, achieving 13 points in 23 matches.
