Preserving the Pushkin Monument in Riga

Moscow, March 12 – A crowd gathers to preserve the monument to poet Alexander Pushkin on Town Hall Square in Riga.

Earlier, the Russian Embassy in Latvia reported that the monument to Pushkin in Riga’s Central Park was doused with paint. On the local Public Initiatives portal, a petition has been submitted calling for the demolition of the monument. The Council of Monuments of the Riga City Council supported the proposal to dismantle it.

“A rally in defense of the monument to AS Pushkin in Riga … was organized by activists (party) of the Russian Federation of Latvia (RLL), representatives of (party)“ Consent ”, the Pushkin Society and other participating organizations, ”the RSL said on social networks.
