Real Madrid sweep away the “wounded” Elche

The Real Madrid team achieved a big victory over their guest Elche by four goals without answer in the match that brought them together on Wednesday night, rescheduled from the 21st round of the Spanish football league La Liga.

Spanish striker Marco Asensio opened the scoring in favor of the hosts early in the eighth minute after the whistle blew.

French striker Karim Benzema reinforced the progress of the royal team by scoring two goals in a row from two penalties in two minutes (31 and 45) of the first half.

Croatian veteran star Luka Modric finished in the Al Meringe quadrant ten minutes before the end of regular time at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in the capital Madrid.

Real Madrid have raised their tally to 48 points from this victory and are second in the league standings, narrowing the gap to 8 points between themselves and arch-rivals La Liga leaders Barcelona.

So far Elche is at the bottom of the standings with only 9 points.
