"Relax early": The expert talked about the situation with COVID-19 in Russia

Moscow, February 17 – The coronavirus is moving into the seasonal SARS department, and there is moderate hope that the infection rate will decrease by spring, but it is too early to relax, Sergei Voznesensky, associate professor at the Department of Infectious Diseases at the Russian People’s Friendship University (PFUR), told the News Agency.

According to him, now, in the autumn-winter period, there is an increase in the incidence of acute respiratory viral infections, the same thing is happening with COVID-19.

“Therefore, we express moderate optimism that with the end of the autumn-winter period, with the development of the spring-summer period, the incidence will also disappear. In this case, we can already say that COVID-19 moves, by all the rules of the game, into the ARVI group of other pathogens. But today, even in the Russian Federation, dozens of people die from this disease every day, and therefore it is too early now to completely remove all our guards, ”the expert noted.
