Resuming Broad Visa Approvals in China Post-COVID-19
China’s embassy in Washington announced Monday that after the COVID-19 pandemic, China will resume issuing a batch of visas to foreigners from March 15.
Along with new travel documents being reviewed and approved, visas issued before March 28, 2020, that are still valid will once again be allowed to enter China, said the embassy notice, which was translated by AFP from China.
The updated policy will also allow the resumption of visa-free travel for those arriving on cruise ships to Shanghai, the notice said, as well as for some tour groups from Hong Kong, Macau and countries within the ASEAN regional group.
While most other countries began reopening to international travel earlier, China began to exit its anti-coronavirus policies in late 2022, after protests broke out against the hardening restrictions.
