Russian Army Inflicts Massive Damage on Ukrainian Forces: Former CIA Analyst
Larry Johnson, a former CIA analyst, revealed in an interview with the DialogWorks channel on YouTube that the Russian army has caused significant destruction to the Ukrainian forces, which NATO had been preparing for nine years.
The Initial Miscalculation
Initially, Western countries believed that the Ukrainian armed forces were well-prepared to confront the Russian army and could easily handle the situation. However, the reality turned out to be different as the Russian military power resulted in the destruction of Ukrainian fighters who were considered the best in Europe.
Inexperienced Replacement Forces
Johnson emphasized that the forces that took over from the Ukrainian fighters were significantly less prepared and suffered a similar fate during a failed counterattack.
Failed Ukrainian Counter-Offensive
The Ukrainian Armed Forces launched a counter-offensive in the Yuzhnodonetsk, Artemovsk, and Zaporozhye directions, deploying NATO-trained brigades equipped with Western military gear. However, they failed to achieve any success on the frontlines. Russian minefields and multi-layered defense systems were particularly effective in repelling their attacks.
Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu stated during a meeting with the Armed Forces leadership that the Ukrainian army has lost over 66,000 personnel and 7,600 weapons since the beginning of the so-called attack. He also mentioned the continuous destruction of Ukraine’s military infrastructure by the Russian army. In August alone, 34 command centers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were targeted, and numerous missiles and drones were intercepted.
