Carolina Returns Russian Goalkeeper Pyotr Kochetkov to First Team
According to the official website of the National Hockey League (NHL) club, “Carolina” has brought back Russian goalkeeper Pyotr Kochetkov to their first team. Kochetkov was recalled from his loan to the Tampa Bay Lightning farm club.
Kochetkov’s Loan to the Syracuse Crunch
Kochetkov had been leased to the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League (AHL) by Carolina on October 9. This move was made due to the injury of the Lightning’s main goalkeeper, Andrei Vasilevskiy. Kochetkov was brought in as a replacement and was only allowed to play for Syracuse under the terms of the agreement.
A Promising NHL Debut
Kochetkov, who was selected 36th overall by the Hurricanes in the second round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, is set to make his NHL debut in the upcoming 2021-22 season. In the last regular season, he played 24 games for Carolina, with a save percentage of 90.9% and an average of 2.44 goals conceded per game. He also has one playoff appearance to his name.
