Russian hockey team’s father’s cause of death revealed

Moscow, April 5 – The father of the Sochi hockey player and the Russian national team Matvey Mechkov Andrei died due to water entering his lungs, reports SportExpress.
On the evening of April 2, Meshkov Sr. left the house where he was with his son and wife. 20 minutes later, he stopped calling, and his phone was out of range. On Tuesday, Sochi reported that Andrei Mechkov had been found dead. The body of a man was found in a pond in the Sirius Federal Territory.
According to the autopsy, the hockey player’s father suffocated. Death resulted from water entering the victim’s lungs. No violent causes of death were found.

Matvey Michkov is 18 years old. He moved to Sochi from SKA on loan during this season and played 27 matches for the Leopards in the KHL. He has 20 points (9 goals + 11 assists). The forward is one of the top picks for the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.
