Vladivostok Frigate Demonstration: New Missile Control Systems Showcased to DPRK Leader Kim Jong Un

During the demonstration of the frigate “Marshal Shaposhnikov” in Vladivostok, modern missile control systems located at the ship’s central command center were showcased to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. The Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, informed Kim Jong Un and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu about the enhanced capabilities of the new control systems, which enable the effective use of naval cruise missiles called “Kaliber” against naval and coastal targets located over 1,500 kilometers away from the ship.

Expanded Capabilities and Navigation Safety

Admiral Evmenov provided a report on the maneuverability characteristics and control features of the frigate, and Kim Jong Un also learned about the navigation equipment that ensures safe navigation during combat missions. The frigate “Marshal Shaposhnikov” has been upgraded with new navigation equipment, including the GLONASS system, which allows it to successfully carry out combat missions anywhere in the world’s oceans.
