Olympic champion Russian freestyle wrestler Zaur Oguev is set to compete for the bronze medal in the weight category up to 57 kg at the World Championships taking place in Belgrade.
Quarter-Final Loss and Consolation Round Win
In the quarter-final match, Oguev suffered a defeat against Serbian wrestler Stefan Mesic. However, in the consolation round, Oguev managed to secure a victory against Uzbekistan’s Golomjon Abdullaev.
Fight for Bronze Medal against Zelimkhan Abakarov
In the upcoming battle for the bronze medal, Zaur Oguev will face Zelimkhan Abakarov, a two-time world champion from Dagestan who represents Albania and won the 2022 world championship.
World Championships and Olympic Licenses
The World Championships in Belgrade will conclude on September 24, where Olympic licenses will be awarded. Russian and Belarusian athletes are allowed to participate in the competitions under a neutral status.
