Saudi women win first international football championship
The Saudi Arabia women’s team managed to win the first championship of their international career on Thursday after a 1-1 draw with Pakistan and win the 2023 Women’s International Friendly Championship Cup in Al Khobar.
The tournament, which was held in the city of Dammam from January 11 to 19, ended with the participation of 4 women’s teams, namely Pakistan, Comoros, Mauritius, in addition to Al-Akhdar.
The Al Akhdar women were crowned with the title after they drew with Pakistan by scoring a goal in a match that took place between them yesterday, Thursday, at the Prince Saud bin Jalawi City Stadium in Al Raqah in the last match of the tournament, Al Bandari Mubarak managed score Al Akhdar’s goal in the 28th minute of the match before the women tied Pakistan with a goal in the 64th minute.

With this result, the women of Al Akhdar led the tournament with 7 points, 3 points ahead of second place Pakistan.
The Saudi Arabia women’s team has benefited from participating in the 2023 Women’s International Friendly Championship, bringing them closer for the first time to inclusion in the international classification of women’s teams (FIFA classification), which is expected to appear in the classification next March.
