Moscow, February 5 – For the first time in its history, the Senegalese national football team won the African Nations Championship, which was held in Algiers.
In the final match, the Senegalese defeated the hosts of the tournament. The main and additional time of the meeting ended with a score of 0: 0. In the penalty shootout, the Senegalese were stronger – 5: 4.
And in the match for third place, the Madagascar national team beat the Niger national team (1: 0).

Unlike the Africa Cup of Nations, this competition is played by teams made up only of players from the countries’ domestic leagues; African footballers who play abroad are not allowed to participate. The Moroccan team won the previous two championships.
