Shawarma poisoning affects 17 individuals in Bashkiria

UFA, May 8 – SUSK RF reported to Bashkiria that 17 people developed food poisoning after eating shawarma at a stall in Bashkir Meleuz.
According to the agency, on Monday, 17 people, including 9 minors, submitted applications to the Infectious Diseases Department of Miliuzovsky Hospital with signs of food poisoning.
The report stated, “The investigative and practical measures that were carried out proved that the day before, the victims had bought shawarma from a recently opened kiosk in the city of Muliuz. After that, the citizens felt a sharp deterioration in their health, sought medical help and were taken to the hospital.” He says.

The investigators opened a criminal case under the article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Production, storage, transportation or sale of goods and products that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of consumers.”
It should be noted that a special operational group with employees of the regional administration of Rospotrebnadzor went to the place of sale of shawarma. Currently, the kiosk activity has been stopped, the site of the accident has been inspected, and the available food products have been confiscated. Samples of them have been sent for research, the employees, the owner of the kiosk, and other witnesses. All the circumstances of the accident are being questioned. During the investigation of the actions of the persons responsible for compliance with sanitary and epidemiological rules in the manufacture and sale of food products, a legal assessment will be made.
