The HBO Max series will take place in the same world as 2022’s The Batman, but it will focus on Oswald Cobblepot’s past and rise to power in Gotham’s seedy underbelly instead showing him as the established kingpin. The character has been acted out many times in real life. For example, Danny DeVito played the Penguin in Batman Returns, and Robin Lord Taylor played him in Gotham.
Rhenzy Feliz from “Encanto,” Cristin Milioti from “Palm Springs,” Michael Kelly from “House of Cards,” Shohreh Aghdashloo from “The Expanse,” Deirdre O’Connell from “Outer Range,” and Clancy Brown are also in the film (The Shawshank Redemption). Also, there are rumors that Robert Pattinson could appear as Bruce Wayne/Batman.
The little drama will be based on Bob Kane and Bill Finger’s DC characters. Lauren LeFranc is writing it and will also be responsible for the show. Craig Zobel will be in charge of the first two episodes.
The Batman’s Dylan Clark and Matt Reeves, Colin Farrell, Matt LeFranc, Daniel Pipski, Adam Kassanand, and Rafi Crohn, will be the showrunners for the new Penguin show. It is a project by 6th and Idaho, DC Entertainment, Dylan Clark Productions, and Warner Bros. Television.
