Moscow, February 22 – Ecuadorian football club “Independiente del Valle” defeated Brazilian “Flamengo” in the first match of the South American Recopa (Super Cup).
The meeting, which took place in Quito, ended with a score of 1: 0 in favor of the hosts. Matteo Carabajal scored (69th minute). In the 88th minute, the hosts’ midfielder, Julio Ortiz, received a red card.
The second leg will be played on February 28 in Rio de Janeiro.

Flamengo participates in the Recope of South America as Copa Libertadores winners, Independiente del Valle as Copa South America winners. The teams played in the Super Bowl also in 2020. Then, for the first time in its history, players of a Brazilian team won the trophy.
