Moscow, February 16 – The latest reconnaissance complex capable of detecting and identifying a person at a distance of 18 kilometers using a laser beam has been developed in Russia, a source in the military-industrial complex told the News Agency.
“The laser is directed, reflected, returned and fixed. A person is identified at a distance of up to 18 kilometers,” the source said.
According to him, the reconnaissance, detection and target designation complex was developed on the basis of solutions developed during the creation and operation of the Ironiya wearable reconnaissance and target designation complex. The complex itself is part of a new reconnaissance vehicle on the Typhoon-VDV chassis, which was developed for the Special Operations Forces. The equipment on the device ensures the reception, recording, storage and transmission of survey results.
In December 2022, the soldiers of the special forces of the Western Military District participating in the special operation told the News Agency that they were using the multifunctional optical-electronic complex Ironia to target targets and launch strikes.
“Ironiya” is designed to monitor and collect information about the area, including the detection of various objects. Equipped with a thermal imager and a laser rangefinder. With the help of the device, it is also possible to record video, determine the coordinates of targets, and carry out target designation of high-precision weapons.
