South African Olympic champion retaliates against Chikunova’s world record

Moscow, April 22 – South African Olympic swimming champion Tatyana Schonemaker congratulated Russian swimmer Evgeniya Chikunova, who broke her world record in the 200-meter breaststroke.
On Friday, at the Russian Swimming Championships in Kazan, Chikunova covered the distance in 2 minutes 17.55 seconds. The Russian surpassed Schoonmaker’s achievement (2:18.95), set at the Tokyo Olympics.

The decision to endorse the world record must be made by the International Aquatics Federation (Aquatics World).
