State Duma receives bill proposing inclusion of new districts in sports system

Moscow, April 7 – A project on the comprehensive inclusion of four new districts into the existing system of performance of physical culture and sports in the Russian Federation was submitted to the State Duma, and placed in the Duma database.
The draft law proposes to regulate issues of creation and accreditation of regional sports federations, recognition of sports titles, honorary sports titles, sports categories, qualification categories of sports judges, qualification categories of previously appointed coaches in accordance with the legislation of the DRC, LPR and Ukraine, the text of the explanatory note to the draft.
The documents also say that the regulation “equates the insignia of the State Sports Complex” ready for action and defense “of the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Luhansk People’s Republic with the corresponding insignia of the Russian Federation.

In addition, the explanatory material indicates the formation and financing of sports teams, measures of social support for champions and prize-winners of the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games, Deaflymp Games, World Championships, European Championships or other international sports competitions that were part of the DRC national teams, and LPR, Ukraine, the use of sports facilities, the inclusion in the list of basic sports of sports included in the programs of the Olympic Games, the Paralympic Games, as well as other sports developed on the territory of new subjects, the use of additional education organizations with a special name “Sports School”.
The regulatory features proposed in the bill are valid for January 1, 2026, the articles say.
Referendums on the entry of the DRC, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions into the Russian Federation were held on September 23-27, 2022. According to the results of processing 100% of the votes in the DRC, 99.23% of those who voted for joining the Russian Federation, in the LPR – 98.42 %, in the Kherson region – 87.05%, in the Zaporozhye region – 93.11%. On September 30, Putin spoke in the Kremlin following the results of referendums in the DRC, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, after which he signed agreements with their superiors on the admission of regions to Russia.
