Moscow, April 11 – The imam of the Kazan Mosque “Gilia” Rustam Khairullin, whose children suffered during the attack on the gymnasium in Kazan in 2021, advised the accused Elnaz Galayev, who plans to learn literature, to write a book of repentance.
According to the investigation, on May 11, 2021, 19-year-old Galyafiev carried out a bombing and shooting attack in Gymnasium No. 175 in Kazan, killing seven children and two teachers, and injuring 24 other people. On Monday, Galyafiev told the court that he intends to write a book while in detention and use the proceeds from its publication to pay compensation to the victims.

The verdict on Galyafiev will be announced on April 13. The Prosecutor General of Tatarstan, Ildus Navikov, suggested that the court sentence Galyayev to life imprisonment. In addition, the plaintiffs offered to fully implement the victims’ claims for non-pecuniary damage. 667 people were recognized as victims in the case (143 of them suffered serious bodily harm), and civil lawsuits were instituted for 48 million rubles. The criminal case amounted to 325 volumes.
Galyaviev was recognized as sane, during the investigation he fully admitted his guilt, repented of his deed. The final charge was brought under four articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation: murder of two or more persons, attempted murder, illegal manufacture and storage of explosives and explosive devices, and willful destruction of property.
