The Danish national team suffered a surprise defeat to the host country Kazakhstan (3:2) in the match that took place between them today, Sunday, in the second round of the 2024 European Nations Cup qualifying tournament.

Danish striker Rasmus Hollund, 20, put his country ahead with two consecutive goals in the 21st and 36th minutes of the first half.

But the hosts bounced back from afar and achieved a surprisingly strong “Remontad”, scoring three goals in a row through each of the players, Baktiyar Zaindinov, Ashat Tagebergen and Abat Aimbetov in minutes (73 from penalties, 86, 89), respectively.

The Danish national team started their campaign in the current qualification by defeating their Finnish guest (3-1) in the meeting that brought them together last Thursday, in the eighth group (H) of the competition.

On the other hand, the Kazakhstan national team started the Euro 2024 qualifiers in Germany, also losing at home to their Slovenian colleague (1-2) last Thursday.

Northern Ireland top the group list with three points and face their Finnish guest later on Sunday evening.
