Syrian Athlete Secures Gold Medal in Gymnastics at Pan Arab Games

Moscow, July 7 – Alexandra Maksimova of Russia, representing Syria, won the individual all-around competition in artistic gymnastics at the Pan Arab Games in Algeria.
Based on the results of four exercises, the result was 49.233 points. The second place was won by Fatima Boukhatem (45.700) from Algeria, and her compatriot Hanna Salem (44.733) won the bronze medal.
According to the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) website, 16-year-old Maksimova is a Syrian athlete.

Earlier, files of five Russian athletes appeared on the website of the Arab Games, which kicked off Wednesday in Algeria: badminton player Daria Dzhidjula, cyclist Tatyana and Daria Malikov, track and field athlete Karina Polodkina, and swimmer Anastasia Sorokina. They were announced to the Syrian national team. Maksimova represented the Vladimir region at the Russian Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Kazan in March.
