Moscow, January 21 – The foreign ministers of the Baltic republics urged Germany to start delivering Leopard tanks to Ukraine, said in a statement. Twitter Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis.
“We, the foreign ministers of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, call on Germany to give Ukrainian Leopard tanks now. This is necessary to stop Russian aggression, help Ukraine and quickly restore peace in Europe. Germany, as a leading European power, has a special responsibility on this issue.
The German authorities have so far refrained from handing over the Leopard 2 to Kiev. In recent days, pressure on Chancellor Olaf Scholz has increased dramatically, and several EU heads of state have publicly urged him to agree to this issue.

As the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper writes, citing sources, Schultz, in a conversation with US President Joe Biden, made it clear that Germany would supply its tanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine only if Washington handed them Abrams. Later in Berlin, this letter was rejected.
The Leopard issue was discussed at the recent meeting of NATO’s contact group on support for Ukraine, but even there the allies failed to reach a consensus.
Against the backdrop of a special Russian operation in Ukraine, the United States and its NATO allies continue to pump tens of billions of dollars’ worth of weapons into the Kyiv regime. Moscow, for its part, has argued that supplying Western arms only prolongs the conflict, and that arms transfers become a legitimate target for the Russian Air Force.
