The stands of the International Stadium in Basra were filled to overflowing with Iraqi fans hours before the match between Iraq and Oman, amid a mass stampede in the vicinity of the stadium, which left one person dead and dozens injured.
This resulted in the Football Association of Oman earlier returning fans present at Basra International Airport to the Sultanate of Oman hours before the final match of the Gulf Cup after consultation with the competent authorities.
