Moscow, December 21 – The height of the burning flame at the site of a major accident on the main gas pipeline Urengoy – Pomari – Uzhgorod in the Vornarsky district of Chuvashia reached 30 meters, the representative of the district emergency services told the News Agency.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Chuvashia, at 13.44 Moscow time on December 20, the emergency services of the republic received a message about a fire that occurred as a result of a gas leak on an underground gas pipeline near the village of Yampakhtino. At 14.50 Moscow time, the burning of the flame was eliminated. As specified in the press service of the President of the Republic, an explosion occurred on the main gas pipeline Urengoy – Pomari – Uzhgorod. Before the fire, the work there was carried out by the operating organization “Zavolzhskoye Linear Directorate of the Main Gas Pipeline Gazprom Transgaz Nizhny Novgorod”. Three people were killed and one injured. A criminal case has been initiated.
