After yesterday’s update, the specialized MLB app for the iPhone now supports Live Activities. MLB users can follow their favorite teams with Live Activities and keep the score from the Lock Screen without having to launch the app.

Scores can also be monitored on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max using Dynamic Island. Users can add the most recent scoring to the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island by selecting the “Track” option from the list of games after updating to the most recent version of the program.

Apple’s TV app already provided Live Activities for MLB games, but the MLB app only had the capability up this week. Since the October release of iOS 16.1, Live Activities have been accessible through third-party apps. It should be made clear why it took so long for the feature to be introduced, given that MLB partners with Apple for content.

Yesterday, the MLB app was updated for the 2023 campaign. The app also features a revamped onboarding process, a Watch tab with 24/7 programming, 2023 team agendas, tickets, a refreshed standings page, and other features besides Live Activities support.

The MLB app is available for free download from the App Store, but membership is necessary to access all the content. Every out-of-market game is available for $24.99 per month or $150 per year.

Starting with the 2023 season, Friday Night Baseball games will again be available on Apple TV+. The Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, San Diego Padres, and Atlanta Braves will play their opening games on Friday, April 7.
