Moscow, February 3 – The Russian Football Union (RFU) has entered into an agreement with the Chinese company Rigor Tech, which will provide equipment and licenses for a virtual system for marking offside lines in Russian championship matches, according to the official website of the Russian Federation.
These virtual lines are used to locate offside positions when using the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system, as well as in televised games. As noted, the Chinese system is currently undergoing final testing for FIFA certification, and by the end of this season it is set to be used in all Russian Premier League (RPL) matches and on television broadcasts.
Due to the change of operator providing equipment for the VAR system in Russia, in the early part of the season the referees could not count on marking offside on the virtual lines.

We are already providing advice to partners The Chinese are giving recommendations on how to improve the system. Moreover, we proposed joint cooperation, including at the level of programmers, to work on further improvements in the technical parameters of the system, ”added Mitrofanov.
