Moscow, January 18 – Defender of the Russian “Philadelphia Flyers” Ivan Provorov refused to participate in support of sexual minorities.
The Russian missed the start before the match of the regular season of the National Hockey League (NHL) against the Anaheim Ducks, but took part in the match and helped the “aviators” win (5: 2). After the game, Philadelphia coach John Tortorella said Prorov’s absence from the pre-game reel was due to the player’s refusal to wear a special jacket with symbols of support for LGBT communities. According to the instructor of the pilots, the Russians referred to religious beliefs.

Provorov himself emphasized that his refusal to wear a T-shirt with slogans of sexual minorities is not an insult to representatives of these communities.
