The Spanish army will receive a new missile submarine this year
The Spanish Ministry of Defense announced that the country’s Navy should receive a new Isaac Peral combat submarine of the modified S-81 class this year.
According to available information, the Spanish Minister of Defense recently visited the Navantia shipyard to check on the progress of the project for the construction of modified S-81 diesel-electric submarines, and the Minister indicated that the delivery of the first submarine of this type to the army may be slightly delayed due to some then technical problems. .
The Spanish Ministry of Defense had previously indicated that the Isaac Peral, the first S-81 type submarine, would be delivered to the Spanish Army this year and was expected to be delivered between April and May next, but did not elaborate. the exact date of the delivery process.
Isaac Peral, one of 4 S-81 class combat submarines developed for the Spanish Army, was first launched in the spring of 2021 and has since gone through several stages of testing.
The underwater displacement of this submarine is 3,372 tons, it can dive to a depth of 460 meters, move at a speed of 19 nautical knots and cover a distance of 5,000 nautical miles in each task.
