Simferopol, May 15 – State Duma deputy from the Crimean region, Major General Leonid Ivlev, described French President Emmanuel Macron as subservient to the United States, and described his statements about Russia as a pretext for the geopolitical defeats of the West.
Earlier, Macron, in an interview with Opinion, said that Russia had suffered a “geopolitical defeat”, had begun the process of “falling into dependence” on China and “questioning” its historical allies.
“The US’s Macron distorts events like cheating papers, wishing for reality. All of them in the West are still looking for an excuse for their geopolitical defeats. France capitulated to Russia in 1814, Germany surrendered by satellite in 1945. Russia was, is and will be a victorious power,” Ivlev told the News Agency.

Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Russian President Vladimir Putin described his goal as “protecting people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years.” He noted that the special operation was a forced measure, and that Russia “left no opportunity to do otherwise, and security risks were created such that it was impossible to respond by other means.” According to him, Russia has been trying for 30 years to agree with NATO on the principles of security in Europe, but in response it has faced either deception and cynical lies, or attempts at pressure and blackmail, while the Alliance, despite Moscow’s protests, is the same. Steady expansion and approach to the borders of the Russian Federation.
