The Turks warn the West about Putin’s reaction to Zelensky’s statement

Moscow, January 22 – Readers of the Turkish version of Haber 7 criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s request to provide Kyiv with modern tanks and long-range missiles.

Germany has so far refrained from supplying Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. In recent days, the pressure on German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has increased dramatically, with several EU heads of state publicly urging him to agree to this issue.

According to the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper on Tuesday, citing sources, Scholz, in a conversation with US President Joe Biden, made it clear that Germany would supply Ukraine with Leopard 2 tanks only if the American side transferred Abrams tanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Later in Berlin denied these statements.

Against the backdrop of a special Russian operation in Ukraine, the United States and its NATO allies are supporting Kyiv by sending arms worth tens of billions of dollars. For its part, Moscow has argued that supplying arms to the West only prolongs the conflict, and that arms transfers become a legitimate target for the Russian military.
