The US Navy received an unmanned military transport ship
Media reported that the US Navy recently received a fast military transport ship equipped with homing systems.
And according to the Naval News website, “Austal USA recently donated the Apalachicola to the US Navy, which is the No. 13 Spearhead fast military transport ship, but it differs from traditional Spearhead ships in having an autonomous driving system, and it can navigate completely independently without the presence of crew.”
The site states that the homing system in the new ship can guide the ship for 30 days without human intervention, and can also monitor its location and destination.
Each Spearhead ship has a displacement of about 600 tons, it can travel at a speed of 35 nautical knots, travel up to 1,200 nautical miles per mission and carry a variety of military equipment and equipment, including M1A2 Abrams tanks.
The ship can also carry 312 fully equipped military personnel, as it is equipped with platforms for transporting CH-53 / 53K helicopters, and can be armed with four 12.7 mm M2 machine guns.
