Thundershowers threaten five Far East regions this week

Moscow, May 30 – The All-Russian Research Institute of Civil Defense and Emergency Situations (VNII GOChS) warned that heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds could disrupt power supplies and transportation links in five regions of the Far Eastern Federal District this week.
“As follows from forecasts of possible emergencies, by the end of the week, heavy rains with thunderstorms and winds could lead to a restriction of transport links and a disruption of energy supplies to settlements in the Primorsky, Khabarovsk, Kamchatka, Amur and Amur regions of the Jewish Autonomous Region,” the report stated. Scientists of the institute noted that similar bad weather is expected this week in Karelia, Adygea, Krasnodar Territory, as well as in the Murmansk and Vologda regions.
